Multicultural Education Resources at Siena College

Multicultural Education

Multicultural Education refers to the incorporation of diverse cultures into classrooms, shaping the curriculum to integrate a variety of perspectives and experiences. Teachers and staff in schools must become knowledgeable about the history, culture, and contributions of diverse groups in order to pass that knowledge on to students. Lastly, multicultural education serves as a tool in confronting social issues related to race, ethnicity, gender, etc.

Scope

This pathfinder is intended for college students, faculty, K-12 teachers, and other educators interested in promoting both a multicultural outlook and a multicultural education in the K-12 classroom. Multiculturalism has become an increasingly important topic in education over the last two decades and, as such, the materials included here are among the most current that the Standish Library has to offer. All of these resources can easily be located through CYRIL, Siena’s online catalog.

Subject Headings

These subject headings may be utilized when searching for reference material and books related to the topic of multicultural education. They are most useful when searching online catalogs like CYRIL, but they can also be useful in searching indexes and abstracts as well as the World Wide Web.
