Company Information
Some things to think about before doing company research:
Is the company public or private? Public companies are required to
disclose information to the SEC while private companies do not.
Therefore more information is available for public companies.
Is it a parent or subsidiary? If the company is a subsidiary brand
information and company information is usually only available under the
parent companies name.
Ex. Aquafina bottled water is a subsidiary of Pepsico. Searching
for information on Pepsico will also get you information about Aquafina.
Using company websites
Most companies have a web presence. Valuable information can be found
here. Click on links labeled "About" or "Company Information" or "Investor
Relations". Keep in mind that these sites are biased since
they are used as public relations tools by the company.

Company Financials
The Annual Report is the main document used by most public
companies to disclose company information to shareholders. Remember that
these reports while containing factual information about the company are also
used as public relations tools. To obtain a truly accurate view of the
company consult other resources in addition to annual reports and the company
website.
